Cinderella Had a Curfew and So Should Online Poker
It's the typical Cinderella story for online poker: one night the poker cards are dealing one good hand after another, and suddenly there is a pot of coffee made, and bingo! The sun is rising. For all online poker players, this sounds all too familiar. At some time in our early online poker playing career, time has managed to escape from reality, and the clock never strikes
All-nighter online poker nights can be fun, for no one likes a midnight curfew. On the one (poker) hand, 30 hours continuous online poker can be educational and teach plenty of poker tips and distinguishing one good poker strategy from another. Not to mention the large stack of chips that can be accrued. But on the other hand, the one doing all the clicking, many sources advise against such a practice. According to a CNN article, people driving after being awake for so long perform worse than a person driving under the influence.
Basically, staying awake to play online poker have detrimental effects, but can be avoided if played as well as smart poker hands are played. It is important to stay hydrated. Dehydration can occur from all the coffee and strenuous mouse clicks at each poker table. Coffee has a real negative effect on the brain, making it harder to play the right poker cards. On that note, don't drink anymore alcohol or any at all. It only makes for stupid decisions, and weaker poker hands. Finally, keep a perspective. Some poker games can be a long session, but remember, it is only one session. Do not try to play online poker until caught up should there be losses. This means not playing looser, moving to higher limits, etc. It is frustrating to play 30 hours of online poker and lose money when there was a positive point at some time. Over the course of the entire online poker career, more hours will be played when money is lost, no sense it making it 30 straight hours. Know when the ball is over and when all the poker hands have been played. Remember that online poker is always going to be there, and many poker games have yet to be played.
